how do I keep up-to-date with the changes made to a particular page?

If you want to be notified every time changes are made to a particular page, you should click on the this page link of the Start watching options in the lower right hand corner of the page. Here's a picture similar to what you should see in the lower right hand corner.

For example, you might want to watch this page. If you want to be notified anytime someone makes a change to any page of the wiki, you can select the site site-name.wikidot.com option, but I do not recommend doing this since you will be getting a lot of emails.

Using the RSS feeds for the forums is probably the best option for following threads in the forum.

I'm interested in making my own wiki, how do I get started?

Getting started is pretty easy. First, make sure that you are logged in with your Wikidot account (you can tell if you are logged in by looking at the top right hand corner of the page). Next, click on the Wikidot logo in the upper lefthand corner of the page. This will take you to the Wikidot home page. Look for the link titled Get it now! and click on it. In the box above the link you just clicked, you should replace your-wiki with whatever you want the initial address of your page to be (for example, the initial address of this wiki is dcernst). After you have picked a suitable name, you should click on the red Get it now! button immediately to the right. If the name you entered is already taken, you can try a new one. Once you have a suitable name, you need to make some choices about what you want the site's title to be, its tagline, the default language (English or Polish), and whether you want the site to be open, closed, or private (our wiki is closed, but viewable by all). That's pretty much it. If you want to start futzing around with the layout, color, etc. you'll have to play around with the Site Manager. You can always get help by taking a look at the Wikidot documentation pages.
